How to play Make 24

Make 24 turns four ordinary numbers into a small arithmetic challenge. Combine all four exactly once, in any order, to reach 24. Parentheses can make the difference between a near miss and a solution.

Use each displayed number exactly once. If a number appears twice, use both copies.
Allowed operations are +, -, * for multiplication, and / for division. Parentheses control the order of operations.
Submit an expression that equals 24 to earn 100 points. Fractions and intermediate negative results are allowed.

If the obvious combinations fail, try forming a fraction. Dividing by a fraction can produce a larger result.
