Tips for Word Guess
Begin with a word that covers several common consonants and at least two vowels. A second guess can test new letters rather than repeating what you already know.
A yellow letter must move to a different position. Green letters are fixed clues, even though the game does not force you to reuse them.
Repeated letters are counted. One green E and one gray E means there is one E in the answer, not that all E letters are absent.

How are daily words chosen?
Starting September 21, 2026, a fixed shuffled schedule advances by one answer each New York day. Its 2,252 distinct answers run for more than six years before that cycle repeats.
Is this the official Wordle?
No. Borough is an independent collection, not affiliated with Wordle or The New York Times.
Why was my word rejected?
The game uses a published English dictionary with a small modern-word supplement. Proper names, abbreviations, and words outside that list may not be accepted.
Can I play more than once today?
A saved player gets one scored result per game per New York day. Reopening a finished game displays the result. Guests use a browser cookie; clearing it creates a new identity. Signed-in results remain attached to the account.
